50Connect is a content led lifestyle portal for Today's
over 45s. 50 Connect is the largest website in the UK for
the over 45s.
50Connect was initially launched in Australia in 1999 as
part of Raingate Internet Holdings. During 2000 the company
was re-launched in the UK as 50Connect PLC. Our members further
own a percentage of the company.
Market
- Between 1990 and 2020 the under 50 population will grow
by 1% and the 50+ by 75% (Henley Centre)
- Over 45s have an income of £166Billion, 60% of the
UK's savings and 80% of the wealth (Henley Centre)
- The second largest group of internet users are 'silver
surfers' aged over 55. "From an advertiser's point
of view the 55-plus are a very desirable market; they have
more free time and higher disposable income than any other
age group," says Coleman of Jupiter MMXI Europe . And
the increasing numbers of silver surfers are, argues MMXI,
further evidence that the internet is now a mass medium.
"The wealthy twenty somethings were never a mass medium."
